Only 19 percent of Employers Think Their Employees Have a High Understanding of Their Benefits
Only 19 percent of employers think their workers have a high understanding of their benefits, according to a benefits communication survey from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP). Employers believe understanding is low because most participants do not open and read communication materials, almost half do not understand the materials, and participants do not perceive value in their benefits. Educating employees about their benefits is a high priority for 65 percent of organizations, however. Nearly two out of five employers have budgets specifically devoted to benefits communication, and 25 percent plan to increase those budgets in 2016. Results from the survey are reported in the Analysis and Guidance at ¶10,328 in the Benefits category under the “Benefits Administration” topic.
